Water-cooled vs air-cooled Porsche 911
Classic Motorsports magazine compares a 997 vintage Porsche 911 (water-cooled) to a 1984 Porsche 911 (air-cooled) in the video at the below link. I think this is an interesting and honest comparison between the two cars. In some ways, these cars should not be compared, but the price point of these two 911s is kind of close (although the air-cooled will average higher than a 997 base 911). I've driven several air-cooled G-bodies and several 996s, and I concur with most of the banter in this video. In the end, it's the experience you're looking for, your use-case, and perhaps your budget. One point made here, that resonates with me, is that if you're looking for a low-cost entry point into the Porsche world there are other very good options (944, Boxster Cayman). And specifically, if you're looking for a classic car experience something like a 944 Turbo or S2 is a great (lower cost) option. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/RRpmL-SiuhQ?si=xsN0lIcuz8z94Gp3
